you can get him to take it by telling him if he forget you're gonna shoot him .......that ought to do the trick lol or perhaps when you've found the Hitler impersonator you were asking about you could pay him extra to remind your grandfather to take his medication lol

I'm sorry that you're feeling so frustrated, but it would do you both good if you try to keep your cool--it's not his fault he can't remember. Depending on your living situation, you could just call and remind him. He should probably have a pill organizer, too, if he doesn't already.

If he has Alzheimers than he probably has a hard time remembering anything. Try setting an alarm clock & have a note taped to it so that when he goes to shut it off the note will remind him to take them. If that doesn't work, call him & remind him when it's time.
You sound kinda insensitive. Maybe you should work on your attitude towards him. It's not his fault that life dealt him this shi tty hand.

Unfortunately, you can only use this page to vent off your anger as your poor old grandfather cannot possibly be held to blame for this terrible illness. You could of course have a bleep alarm with the meds in place for him to take them but there is no guarantee that he will remember. You can get a home help or nurse to call to administer the meds but if he is that bad, maybe a home might be better, not to get rid of him, but to make sure he has the best possible care and that he does not injure himself. Try to have a little patience, we have been in a similar position.

Well, your grandfather is not stupid, neither is his medications.
It will do you no good to let this get you angry and call him names. Why hurt his feelings?
Why not call him when it is time to take his meds...keep him on the phone until you know he has taken them...
I lived with my grandmother, who also had Alzheimer's. I miss her dearly now. She knew I lived there, but forgot who I was most of the time....LOL...unless I had did something she didn't like and then she knew my name...
Help your grandfather's time left on earth be as calm and stressfree as you possibly can. It will help you as well.
He can't help it... having Alzheimer's... but you can help the way you react and respond to it.
Enjoy as much time with him as you can.
